Robinson Ramaite
Non-Executive Chairman

Robinson is the executive Chairman of Simeka Mining which is the major participant, along with historically disadvantaged Afgem staff, in the BEE consortium that has acquired a 26% stake in Afgem. Prior to forming Simeka, Robinson was a Director General in the Department of Public Service and Administration. He has a Masters Degree in Public and Development Management from the University of Witwatersrand and B. Juris from the University of the North. Robinson had four years experience in mining prior to joining the Afgem board in June 2005.

Rodney Yaldwyn
Chief Executive Officer

Rodney has worked at with Afgem since 2002, having consulted to the company on its listing whilst working at HSBC South Africa. A geologist by training, Rod graduated from the University of Cape Town with Honours in Geology and went on to work for various international mining groups including Falconbridge, Gold Fields and Gencor for over 10 years before joining the financial services industry. Rod has been acting Managing Director at Afgem’s mining operations since Afgem assumed management control of the Rex Diamond mines in August 2004 and was appointed CEO in June of 2005.

Lemogang Pitsoe
Chief Operations Officer

Lemogang is a mining engineer who graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand. He has worked in mining for the last ten years most recently with Royal Bafokeng Resources in their Western Bushveld platinum operations. Prior to that Lemogang worked for De Beers on a number of their properties throughout South Africa. Lemogang joined Afgem in late 2004 and has been the General Mine Manager at Simolotse mine since that time. Lemo was appointed COO in June 2005.

Mark Summers
Financial Director

Mark Summers is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Management Accountant. After completing his articles, Mark joined Anglo American’s Corporate and International Finance Department and from 1999 to 2002 was an associate director in the Mining Corporate Finance division at HSBC, where his corporate clients included Afgem, De Beers, Kroondal Platinum and the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa. Mark joined Afgem as the Financial Director in 2002. He is also a director of TanzaniteOne, a tanzanite mining company and Xceldiam an Angolan diamond exploration company.

Ian Blacher
Non-Executive Director

Reshoketswe (Shokie) Bopape Dlomo
Non-Executive Director

Shokie is the CEO of the Film and Publications Board (“FPB”). Prior to joining the FPB she worked in various divisions of the Department of Minerals and Energy for seven years, including serving as the Registrar of Mining Titles in South Africa. Most recently she served as a Director of Mineral Law regulating and managing the allocation of prospecting and mining rights. Shokie has a MA in Development and Social Policy. She joined the Afgem board in June 2005.

Ami Mpungwe
Non-Executive Director

Ami was Chairman of Afgem’s Tanzanian subsidiary, prior to its disposal and was integral to its establishment and development. He has an Honours degree in International Relations and Political Science, a diploma in International Law and has spent 25 years in the diplomatic service, including seven years as Tanzanian Ambassador to South Africa. As tribute to his principal role in developing relations and trade between South Africa and Tanzania, President Mbeki awarded Ami with the highest honour which South Africa is able to confer on a foreign citizen: The Order of Good Hope.

Mike Nunn
Non-Executive Director

Mike has been involved in the mining industry since 1993 where he has extensive hands-on experience in exploration, mine development, mining operations and management, beneficiation, grading and marketing of high value gemstones. Mike founded Afgem in 1998 and was the Chief Executive until his resignation in 2005. Mike is a founding member of the Diamond Merchant’s Association of South Africa and is the International Coloured Stone Association’s Ambassador to South Africa. He is now the CEO of TanzaniteOne and a non-executive director of Angolan diamond exploration company Xceldiam.
